hello guys, I would like to ask if it is normal that the SFP-10G-T-X module installed on a slot of the C9600 is seen as SFP-10GBase-SR.
Is it possible that it is an update problem?

Hello!
Is the SFP Cisco original? If not possible it was reprogramed to be seen as that. Have you tried putting it in another device?

Yes, this is entirely possible if the SFP-10G-T is a non-Cisco branded optic.
The logic behind it is because SFP-10G-T is not compatible with all firmware. Non-Cisco optic vendors circumvent this by re-flashing the optic to something that is "common", like SFP-10G-SR.

the modules are original cisco. Below is the output of the show idprom interface command. You can view that the Transceiver Type and Product Identifier (PID) are different. Why???

If its an original cisco I wouldn't worry about this. Check the SN and it seems it's legit. Try if it works. Could be your version on the C9600 is to old. If i check the tmx matrix: https://tmgmatrix.cisco.com/?si=SFP-10G-T-X&npf=521
the version should be at least 17.7.1.
I would say its a small bug.

If it is that important, RMA the optics (with Cisco).
It seems the SFP-10G-TX was not re-flashed/re-programmed correctly by the manufacturer before getting shipped to Cisco.
What firmware is the 9600 running?
Personally, I'm not concerned about this mistake.

The 9600 firmware is 17.03.04 on SUP 1 card type.
As DanielP211 said, i think it's a small bug. I'll try to update the firmware.

According to @DanielP211, SFP-10G-TX is supported from 17.7.1 (and later). The switch is currently on 17.3.4. Another thing, I have never seen a Cisco-branded optic that has a serial number that begins with "MTC".

Think really hard and evaluate this very carefully.
Just how "important" is the optic identifying itself correctly? Is it important enough to risk the stability of this core switch?

Hello @crlmcl ,
if the link with the affected SFP+ is working normally I agree with @Leo Laohoo that is not enough to trigger a SW upgrade of your switch.
Just keep a note of this. Later when you will have more reasons to perform an upgrade also this will be fixed.

I understand that until everything works it is better not to touch anything.
In fact the module works well although it is seen by the switch as a 10G-sr module.
