Hi,
This is Cisco 9500 Series switch stack and I am getting alarmed as "%SMART_LIC-3-RESERVE_HA_FAILURE: The license reservation information on the active and standby does not match. Licensing HA will not work properly: Reservation type in active and standby does not"
I know that this is a license issue on a StackWise-virtual unit. The license is not activated in the standby unit. here are some details:
Active: PID:C9500-48Y4C,SN:xxxxxxxxxxxx
Reservation status: SPECIFIC INSTALLED on Sep 26 10:50:33 2019 UTC
Export-Controlled Functionality: ALLOWED
Last Confirmation code: b8cd5xxx
Standby: PID:C9500-48Y4C,SN:yyyyyyyyy
Reservation status: NOT INSTALLED
Export-Controlled Functionality: NOT ALLOWED
!
Registration:
Status: REGISTERED - SPECIFIC LICENSE RESERVATION
Export-Controlled Functionality: ALLOWED
License Authorization:
Status: AUTHORIZED - RESERVED
License Usage:
License Entitlement tag Count Status
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
C9500 48Y4C DNA Adva... (C9500-DNA-48Y4C-A) 2 AUTHORIZED
C9500 48Y4C NW Advan... (C9500-48Y4C-A) 2 AUTHORIZED
C9500 Network Advantage (C9500 Network Advantage) 0 NOT IN USE
Can you guide how to activate a license in the standby unit without breaking the Stack? Is it require downtime?

Q How does Cisco IOS Software license
management work in StackWise Virtual?
A The Cisco IOS Software license between both stack member
switches must match. The software license can be modified
to match all the stack members using the license CLI in
EXEC mode. Both the stack member switches will need to be
reloaded to make the new software licenses effective.
I saw that this refers to IOS, but it may apply for XE too

Hi @marce1000
You are correct and I am also aware of it. Here is my question:
Currently, this stack in the production so do I need to reconfigure License details (as a token) in the global configuration mode without thinking about the primary or secondary unit? And it will apply on both unites and after the reboot, it will take effect.
or
Is there a specific command where I will apply the license information on the standby unit and will only be required a standby unit reboot?
Thanks in the advance.

Hi Deepak,
i had the same problem :
You need to reserve a different NETWORK ADVANTAGE License for the SWV Stack :
You have reserved/activated this one :
C9500 48Y4C NW Advan... (C9500-48Y4C-A) 2 AUTHORIZED
.. but You need to use only this one :
C9500 Network Advantage (C9500 Network Advantage) .
Just recreate a new license activation code in the software Center, that uses only the DNA Advantage and the NETWORK Advantage license .
Don't use the specific licnese in the SWV setup.
I was able to fix it without a reboot.
1. Recreate a new license reservation code
