Hello Guys,

I see this message on switch's log but I'm not able to understand what is it :

*%TIMERLIB-4-TIME_SHIFT_DETECTED:Switch 2 R0/0: wcm:  Detected backward time shift. Last: 1495767094.170133. --> Now:1495767094.169993.

What does the message means ? Is it a comestic bug or a real bug ?

looks very similar to this issue which is seen on 38s too

did you check your release note for that ios-xe version on the website to see if there is a matching bug in the caveat section

You may have to TAC it then if the bugs not even in the release notes or the toolkit to get the actual ID these are new platforms new software all on early deployment release versions , I don't see any major deployment releases which can be more stable in terms of bugs than and ED release, or take a chance and move to 16.3.2 or .3 which are available for that platform now and see if the alert persists

or if its cosmetic not causing any issues ,set logging discriminator remove it from flooding  logging

On Cisco website, they recommend 3.7.5E (ED) version install. I will upgrade the IOS, hoping that solves the problem ^^

yes they do but your on a Denali ios-xe version so you bootcode has probably changed to support that,  thats why I didn't suggest jumping completely off it to 3.7 first , I would follow this doc when downgrading from Denali to standard ios-xe there's a section in it just to be sure

What is the difference between Denali & IOS XE ?

Cisco are unifying the ios-xe versions between switches and routers 1 code for all its still coming together but some of the versions have been released , so same code could go on your 3850 that's running on a 4k as both ios-xe

Not sure what the whole architecture change is but I know from reading some of it before when you go Denali the underlying rom is changed too compared to a standard ios-xe

it may be perfectly fine to jump between the 2 I just haven't tested it yet to see what may happen so id glance through the doc make sure there are no gotchas first
