Hello everyone,
I would need some help understanding an phrase writen in a Cisco manual about UDLD:
"UDLD supports two modes of operation: normal (the default) and aggressive. In normal mode, UDLD can detect unidirectional links due to misconnected ports on fiber-optic connections. In aggressive mode, UDLD can also detect unidirectional links due to one-way traffic on fiber-optic and twisted-pair links and to misconnected ports on fiber-optic links."
What does misconnected means? No connection at all? I ask this because I understand a unidirectional link also a miss connection. But this paragraph is for me the key explaining the difference between normal and aggressive mode.

misconnected is what we would call "mal contato" in portuguese.

On a fiber cable you can "unclip" the send/receive individua cables and cross connect them into a device. This will cause the sent to be on the receive side and vice versa.

No, but fiber optic come with two cable in one pair,
In one side you must connect send to receive in other side,
If you misconnect, then you connect
Send in one side to send in other side
This case udld detect it.
