Unify Wifi AP's not showing up...

Hi All,

I've got a new set of Cisco 350XG's (stacked) and connected via port channel to a 300 POE.

On the 350's I've got a physical server running Hyper-V and a VM on that.

On the 300 I've plugged in a unify AP and verified it has power.

Physical Server IP: 192.168.10.251 /24

VM Server IP: 192.168.10.103 /24

On the 350;

The host server is connected via trunk port.

 switchport mode trunk
 switchport trunk native vlan 10
 switchport trunk allowed vlan 10,17,103,254,2000

not sure I need to "allow" vlan 10 if it's the native vlan but hey ho....

On the 300 the AP is also connected via trunk port (because it will support different SSID's on different vlans);

interface gigabitethernet6
 description Wifi-AP
 switchport trunk allowed vlan add 101-103,190
 switchport trunk native vlan 254

The unify software is installed on a VM on the host server (on vlan10 i assume since this is the native vlan of the port)

What's supposed to happen is the unify VM is supposed to find the AP's (via mac address) and then allow me to manage them and set an ip address (it'll be 192.168.254.something), the VM can ping all other devices on the .254 subnet (i.e. this 254 vlan), including the 254 interface on the POE switch.

Trunk between POE switch and CORE switch looks like this;

POE Side;

interface Port-channel4
 description CORE-SW1-UPLINK
 spanning-tree link-type point-to-point
 switchport trunk allowed vlan add 10,101-103,190,200,254,400,2122
 switchport trunk allowed vlan add 2126

CORE;

interface Port-Channel4
 description CORE-SW2
 spanning-tree link-type point-to-point
 switchport mode trunk
 switchport trunk allowed vlan 10,101-103,190,200,254,400,2122
switchport trunk allowed vlan add 2126

I have an old system on an old Dell switch and this seems to be set up similarly and yet this works... so I'm not too sure what I need to do to get it to work.

thanks as always for any advice / assistance you can provide.

Paul.

By way of an update, if I change the native vlan on the POE switch (AP port) to the same as the server (i.e. vlan 10) of course it becomes visible....

The previous setup on the old kit looks like this;

interface ethernet 1/g21
switchport mode general
switchport general pvid 254
switchport general allowed vlan add 254
switchport general allowed vlan add 100-103,190,200,1000-1004 tagged
switchport general allowed vlan remove 1

so not a vlan 10 in sight and yet the AP is visible to the old server when it's plugged into this port.... All AP's have an ip address of 192.168.254.something and live in VLAN 254 so I'm more than a little confused by it....
