Upgrade IE2000U

Hello,

I need help for find a solution to my problem after my upgrade.

I wanted to upgrade my IE2000U-4TS  to ie2000u-lanbasek9 mz.150-2.EK1.bin version to ie2000u-lanbasek9-mz.152-3.E3.bin , but I upgraded with the wrong IOS ie2000-universalk9-mz.52-3.E3.bin .

I changed the boot path and reload. Note I have left the old IOS in the flash.

Classic !  The switch boot in rommon mode.

sdflash: contains unexpected values in partition table or boot sector.
Device needs formatting before use!
Loading ""...: no such device
Error loading ""
Interrupt within 5 seconds to abort boot process.
Boot process failed...
The system is unable to boot automatically. The BOOT
environment variable needs to be set to a bootable
image.

But the switch not recognizes the flash.

 switch: dir flash:
Directory of flash:/

56573K bytes available (1K bytes used)

switch: dir sdflash:
unable to stat sdflash:/: unknown error

I upgrade my switch with the XMODEM (Yeah !) and i boot on my IOS. For information I have taken the OLD IOS (ie2000u-lanbasek9 mz.150-2.EK1.bin) because he is smaller. The switch finally start. But after each restart the same problem ... Flash completely empty since the rommon.

No change after formatting the card, modify the boot sector filesystem and formatting in rommon mode.... Same problem

switch: dir flash:
Directory of flash:/
56573K bytes available (1K bytes used)
switch: dir sdflash:
unable to stat sdflash:/: unknown error

I took for comparison starting another IE2000U and the only difference is the boot driver .

I find the root cause... My Cisco IE2000U use the IE2000 Bootloader !

ROM: Bootstrap program is IE2000U boot loader
BOOTLDR: IE2000 Boot Loader (IE2000-HBOOT-M) Version 15.2(3r)E, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

Hi Arnaud,

Can you tell me how you managed to upgrade the boot loader to the IE2000U version?

I have the same issue and unfortunately each time the switch boots it reports that a boot loader upgrade is not needed???

Any help appreciated :-)

Rex.

Hi,

After check my issue with the TAC, I return the devices in RMA :(.

If you use a IE2000 image for upgrade your IE2000U, the boot loader use the IE2000 variable and can't boot.
