Upgrading 6509-E in VSS from modular to non-modular?

We are looking into upgrading our 2x 6509-E in a VSS mode (VS-S720-10G) from 12.2(33)SXI3 modular to 12.2(33)SXI7 to non-modular version.

Since we are moving away from the modular version can we do a regular FSU as stated here?:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/ios/12.2SX/configuration/guide/vss.html#wp1170391

What is the expected downtime using a FSU procedure "FSU procedure requires system downtime corresponding to the RPR switchover time" ?

Or should we use the eFSU procedure? and would that minimize the downtime required?

Since you are going from a modular to a non-modular image, you can not use eFSU.  You have to load the new image in both switches and reboot them.   Depending on the number of modules you have installed, it takes about 15 to 20 minutes for the VSS pair to reboot. You would need an outage window to do this.

Thanks...

I also found a blog entry confirming that using eFSU would result in disaster:
