Upgrading Cisco Nexus 3064T from 6.x to 7.x

Hello,

I've upgraded many Cisco switches and routers before, but never a Nexus where I have 2 to do.

I've taken a backup and have been given nxos.7.0.3.I4.8a.bin to install.

Can someone help provide the simple steps?

 - There are no simple steps if you  want to avoid risks. You can avoid that by reading the release notes of the intended version  where you will also find  guidelines and or pointers to upgrade procedure(s).

Its basically the same , just an extra file , theres kickstart and system make sure you have both in place
there is issu but if you can take a hit do as issu faisl a lot
save it check the boot and reload

Sorry about this I've managed to download:

nxos.7.0.3.I4.8b.bin  24-Oct-2018   667.29 MB

But I can't locate the kickstart for this, only n3000-uk9-kickstart.6.0.2.U6.10.bin

If I look under version 7 all I see are python scripts like this:

Starting with Release 7.0(3)I2(1) and later releases, there is a single image for booting the Cisco Nexus 3000 Series platforms. The kickstart and system images are not required anymore. The single image binary now boots up on both Cisco Nexus 3000 and 3100 Series platforms and Cisco Nexus 9000 Series platforms. Due to single image binary, the following commands are updated: -

• boot nxos single_image_binary

• fast-reload nxos single_image_binary

• install all nxos single_image_binary

Hi,

For the Nexus series after loading the files, you want to use the "install all" command.

Kick start images no longer needed.

See below:

Note: Beginning with the 7.0(3)I2(1) release, kickstart and system images are no longer used to install the Cisco NX-OS software image on Cisco Nexus 3000 and 3100 Series switches. Instead, a single binary image is used (for example, nxos.7.0.3.I4.1.bin). To install the software, you would use the install all nxos bootflash:nxos.7.0.3.I4.1.bin command.

Looks fine , just review logs over the first 24hours make sure theres no obvious issues with the new software, in fairness though nx-os is pretty stable

is just says that because it was hard reloaded and not done through ISSU upgrade whihc can keep the switch up while its done
