Uplink port up, down, up and down due to %ILPOWER-3-CONTROLLER_PORT_ER

My uplink port for my switch, which is a part of a port-channel is going up and down. After closer investigation, it seems it might have something todo with this error: %ILPOWER-3-CONTROLLER_PORT_ER

This is causing brief, but disruptive downtime as the port-channel takes about 30 seconds to realise and then switches to the remaining interfaces in the port-channel. Then when it fixes itself later in the day, the same issue happens for a brief moment.

This is happening for 2 days now, twice aday at around the same time of day.

This switch has been working fine for many months, but now its started to become an issue...

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

Hello,

the error message could indicate a problem with the cabling. The command:

sh cable tdr interface g1/0/48

should give you the status of all four wire pairs (Pair A/B/C/D). They all should have the status 'Normal'. As far as I recall, Pair C controls PoE. Can you post the output of that command?

Post the complete output to the command "sh interface Gi1/0/48 controll".
