I have just moved to a community where Internet access is proved by a cable modem with a single connection.
I am considering a purchase of a Linksys EA4500 or EA6500 wireless modem but already have an old PIX 501 security appliance from years back.
Should I connect the cable modem to the PIX 501 0 port and then connect the Linksys wireless router to one of the other PIX 501 ports or should I just skip using the PIX 501?
I don't know if using both devices will cause more conflict than benefit.
Any thoughts?

Hi Walt,
Using both devices will cause more conflict than benefit.
What would be the reason to add the PIX firewall?
1- VPN.
2- Port-forwarding rules / NAT.
3- Specific security requirements.
If any of those is true, then no need to add the PIX.
If you need any, please let me know, perhaps the Linksys do support it.
Thanks.
Portu.
