Hi ,

I need to setup Stack of four switches as per mentioned below.

WS-C3850-24T-S--- 2QTY

WS-C3850-12S-S---2QTY

currently i have 1 switch(C3850-24T-S) & 1 switch(C3850-12S-S). now i need to setup stack of 2 switches, my doubt is can i able to give "member number 3" to 2nd stack switch as i am planning to configure "member number 2" in future on another switch because of stock unavailability. I need to actually keep reserved this "member number 2" for another switch.

is it possible??

Yes.

available Switches supports stacking.

Connect switches using stack cables than use the command switch 2 renumber 3.

Just to confirm, are we discussing here Virtual Stacking or Stacking ?  (sounds like your subject line mentioned that you look virtual Stacking) ?

It's stacking...

Ok sure that make sense, configure exiting switch  with Switch numbers, and priority. make sure  you decide which one need to ba master switch all the time.
