Can I use vlan 1001 on my Cisco 2960s and my Cisco 4503?

It changes from time to time with hardware / new OS releases, but I believe both platforms you have listed will allow use of VLAN 1001 based on the following documentation.  Consult the document for your specific IOS to be sure.
