Hi All,
I know how to backup vlan.dat files but my question is do i need to backup the vlan.dat or will a backup of the running config be enough to recover a switch and any vlans created
Many Thanks

Hi,
Backing up the vlan.dat is a safe bet. In VTP Server or Client modes, backing up the running-config would not be sufficient. Even in VTP Transparent or Off modes, it is better to have this file backed up.
Best regards,
Peter
