VLAN question - ignore or drop VLAN info

I have a set of 2950 and 2970 switches in a VTP domain controlled by a 4506 core switch, with a number of VLANs.

I want to be able to pipe VLAN traffic from one edge device to another, using a VLAN - but, I then want the traffic to go out to a cisco wireless access point controlled by another organisation - which isn't part of my VTP domain, and also doesn't recognise my VLAN.

Is there some way I can configure the edge device (a WS-2950G-24-EI) to ignore or drop the VLAN information?

Thanks for your help

Phil

Hello Phil,

You can use VTP pruning on the trunk connecting to ur 2950 switch to prevent any VLAN information from your network to flow towards the switch. VTP pruning normally stops VLAN information to be flooded on the trunk. Your wireless device anyway will connect only on an access point. Hence connect it on a different VLAN/network if required and isolate it from ur network with VACL's (L2 or L3)....

Hope this helps.. all the best... rate replies if found useful..
