vPC on Cisco Nexus 3548 -- "Error: vPC feature is not supported"

We have purchased two new Nexus 3548 switches. According to documenation the Nexus 3K does support vPC. When trying to enable the feature I get this:

nexus(config)# feature vpc

Error: vPC feature is not supported

nexus(config)#

We are running software version version 5.0(3)A1(1) and it looks like the latest version is 5.0(3)A1(2) so that's not much of a difference.

Am I missing something here?

Hi,

You need 5.0(3)U2(1) to do vPC on the 3000 series.

Try loading it and test again.

From the release notes:

Beginning with Cisco NX-OS Release 5.0(3)U2(1), the Cisco Nexus 3000 Series supports virtual port channels (vPC).

here is the link:

VPC is not supported in the Nexus 3548 at this point. You have to use Nexus 3064s for that. These are totally two different platforms.

Thanks a lot. I'll give that a go.

Hello Team,

in the meantime, there is nx-os v6 available for nexus 3548/3524 series.

In the Release Notes I saw a reference to a Bug-ID

CSCuf21894

Removing the feature vPC doesn't change the prune list on a peer.

Is there any update on availability of vPC on platform nexus 3548 ?

best regards

Alfred

I heard it is supported now.

The support for vPC was added in 6.0(2)A3(1).

Hi all,

Does anybody have 3500 setup with vPC so he can conform that it is working now with 6.0(2)A3(1) or later?

Thanks

Hi,

I have a vPC installation with N3524 running 6.0(2).A3(1).

regards

Alfred

Yes as per Cisco release note , now vPC is supported on Nexus 3548 Release 6.0(2)A3(1)

I noticed that. Thanks for your reply.

Hi,

Anybody knows if there's a chance that the 3548 get the vpc feature one day ?

Seems to be an error on the Nexus 3k product page.  We had a customer who purchased these for VPC support.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps11541/index.html

Nexus 3500 Features

Ultra-Low Latency

  • Line-rate layer 2 and 3 switching at ultra-low latencies
  • Ideal for high-performance trading workloads

Mission-Critical Features

  • Network Address Translation (NAT)
  • Virtual Port Channel
  • IEEE-1588 PTP

Was this sorted? I am just about to put 6 3524 in for a customer instead of a 5548UP's. They need to support vpc's.

Installed two last week using latest software - unfortunately no vPC support.

The summary page has incorrect information (saying it's supported when it's not).

Hmm this is an issue, thanks for you response. Did you speak to Cisco about a custom build to enable it?
