VRRP active active issue

Hi All, 

I am trying to establish VRRP group on vlan 244. However it seems in both router it stays as ACTIVE. The topology of the network as shown below

 

Router1                                        Router2

|                                                       |

|____switch1---port-channel---switch2   

 

VLAN 244 is allowed in the port channel by way.

VRRP not working, because switches are not stacked or VSS I believe.

Is there any way to get it working in this topology.

Can you post the configuration between switchs, router links

and Vrrp configuration?
