VTP Revision Number Issue

Ahmed Ashfaque

Level 1

Good Day,

I have migrated two of my core switches. new cores are 9407 whereas, the access switches are a mixture of 2960 and 3850. All trunks are up and working but VTP version number is not getting matched. Since cores are the servers and access switches are the clients.

I have defaulted the interfaces on both sides one by one but the issue is not getting eliminated. Any suggestion as per experience, please?

Thanks for the support.

Regards,

Hello,
Checks some configurations is the same on all switches clients
For exemple:
Version
Mode (client, server or transparent)
domain
password
etc

Otherwise, check if the trunks has correctly configuration.

Regards.

I created one test vlan on all 4 switches....vl 100 from cores to SW1 and SW2  they can ping each other ..but SW1 and SW2 SVIs (vl100) are not pinging to each other.....

please advice...

Hello

FYI - VTP version 1 and VTP version 2 are not applicable to work with each other on switches in the same VTP domain.

Looks like from your post all the switches support vtp 2 so suggest to make them all vtp ver 2 in the same domain and test again
