How to fix this issues on Cisco 4510.

from user configuration mode type (vtp primary vlan). then you will be able to create the vlan successfully.

Hi,

Try with "VTP Primary" command on exec mode. It will give you the permission to create VLAN for the VTP domain.

Hi

Did you tried typing the command vtp primary vlan in exec mode (not in configuration mode)?

What message did you get when you typed in this command?

Thanks
Francesco

I understand that my 3750 switch 2 is the primary one, but when trying to create a vlan I get the error "VTP VLAN configuration not allowed when device is not the primary server for vlan database."

what could be happening?

You need to delete the (vlan.dat) file from the switch

Bro u just change version 3 to 2 then try i should work.

tq

hiii deepak

Hi,

I'd recommend to check first if you already have (or had) a primary server in your VTPv3 domain.

The 'Feature VLAN' section of the 'show vtp status' output should show you the ID and description (hostname) of the (last) primary server. As already stated in the posts above you can define one (and only one) primary server in exec mode; keep in mind that this role is not reboot-persistent, so it might got lost when the switch was reloaded the last time.

HTH

I know, that's I figure out the switch was in production.

Have you tried VTP Mode Off in the config mode?
