WCCP Support of IOS 12.2(33)SXH4

Hello all,

Got a slide from Cisco that says for the Cat 6500 Sup720/32 with IOS version 12.2(22)SXH4, that the following is supported:

Mask Assignment

GRE or L2 Redirect

L2 Return

However, looking at the release notes it says:

Web Cache Control Protocol (WCCP)—These WCCP features are supported:

– WCCP L2 Return

– WCCP Layer 2 PFC Redirection

– WCCP Redirection on Inbound Interfaces

– WCCP Version 1

– WCCP Version 2

Release 12.2SX does not support these WCCP features:

—WCCP Layer 2 Redirection/Forwarding

—WCCP Mask Assignment

—WCCP VRF Support

Does "12.2SX" mean any IOS version starting with 12.2SX, including SXH4 which is listed in the chronological release section of these release notes?  If so, this seems to directly conflict with the slide I have.  Unless I'm misunderstanding it?

So which one is right?  The release notes or the slide/best practice info?

When that Release Notes was written, SX was intended for SXF not SXH - some enhancements to WCCP have been incorporated.

The link I provided for you mentions the following:

"L2 Traffic Redirection and Return is supported in hardware beginning with Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(33)SXH"
