Hi,
My name is Roger and I having problems with the performance between a cisco router 7206VXR and switch 4507R_E.
Between this equipments is installed an IPS (Tippingpoint) with Fast 10/100 Mbps interfaces.
We are monitoring the interfaces of the router and switch cisco connected to this equipment and we can see dropped and error paquetes.
We have changed the size of queue in and out of the interface at router cisco but the problem persist.
At switch we can not do many changes.
Can you tell us if the problem is at the IPS which has fast 10/100 Mbps interfaces?
Are these interfaces generating the dropped and errors paquetes?
Is very important your answer to recommend the change of IPS with interfaces Giga 10/100/100.
This problem is affecting the performance of all application that cross both equipments.
I am annexing a file with more information.

Check your attaching interfaces for speed and duplex. If the router and switch is set as auto then the IPS must be set as auto also . If the router and switch ports are hardcoded then the IPs ports must be hardcoded and cannot be set as auto . To me it looks like you are overunning the ports at times , you have 71 meg in one direction and 44 meg in the other into a 100 meg line so you are going to get drops if it gets much higher than that . You may have to think about getting a different IPS with gig ports on it . analyze your traffic and see if you are overrunning those 100 meg links into the IPS , that will certainly slow it down if you are and cause drops . Take a look at the interfaces when people are complaining it is slow .
