Hi, guys.

I really want to know about the difference between N9300 Platforms EX and FX.

I found the just one difference is the SSD capacity.

Please give me the information about the N9300 Platforms~ Thank you!

I once was told that the EX had 25GE hardware according to pre-standard 25GE implementation (cisco prop)

The FX had 25GE hardware in accordance to the 25GE standard.

Don't know if this is true.

Hello Jin Hyuk,

What difference the Platforms between [Nexus 9300-EX] and [Nexus 9300-FX]
CPU,system memory,Maximum number of Longest Prefix Match (LPM) routes,Maximum number of IP host entries,Maximum number of MAC address entries, memory may vary.

You can refer to the datasheet below.

On a similar note is it possible to upgrade an existing 9300EX to a 9300FX??

Hi

The key difference between 9300-EX and 9300-FX  series is FC traffic support.

The  9300-FX  series support FC traffic.

Thank you.

Hi MKH,  This is can be a bit misleading.  Not all FX support FC.  The 93108TC-FX-24 for example is FX but does not have support for FC.  Therefore - it is important that FX is not thought of as always having FC capabilities as not all FX do.

Hope this helps,

Josh

in addition to the FC/FCOE port support, FX also has the latest ASIC and support streaming telemetry better than the EX

Can you please let us know which latest ASIC FX support?

I thought both EX and FX support LSE ASIC.

Hi,

Here is a mapping between platform and ASIC on the switch/linecard:

PlatformASIC
9300-GXLS6400GX
9300-FX2LS3600FX2
9364CS6400
9300-FX / X9700-FXLS1800FX
9300-EX / X9700-EXLSE

Here is also a view of the ASIC Slices:

Thank you for presenting this answer this way, it really helped where the datasheet fell short!

The Nexus 9300 FX platform supports FC and FCoE and EX does not support it. Beside to that, EX does not support MACsec.
