I have a typical Mac based network including a server, with the exception of a couple of large format printer with a RIP on a specific Mac. We print large files which are greater than 1 GB in size.
I am thinking of getting these devices to turn my fast ethernet network into a gigabit network as well as add VLans to segment the one Mac that has the RIP and the printers it communicates with, as well as segmenting excess office space that we rent out and share our internet connection with.
I will get either the RV 180 or the RV 220 Router and a Cisco SG200-50 Smart Switch. The Router and switch both provide VLan features.
Should I use the VLan features of the router or the switch?
If I use the router to create the VLan should I get 2 dumb switch SG100-24 instead?
Can I use QoS to help with the computer/printer data flow on the network?
