Hi Guys,
We have recently deployed the above model line cards to replace our old WS-X4248-RJ45V cards.
Now we are facing a strange issue, whereby some ports/phones work on the new cards and others don't. However all phones work on the old cards.
All the phones are cisco 7960's, sh power below shows ample;
Power Fan Inline
Supply Model No Type Status Sensor Status
------ ---------------- --------- ----------- ------- -------
PS1 PWR-C45-2800AC AC 2800W good good good
PS2 PWR-C45-2800AC AC 2800W good good good
Power supplies needed by system : 2
Power supplies currently available : 2
Power Summary Maximum
(in Watts) Used Available
---------------------- ---- ---------
System Power (12V) 743 2473
Inline Power (-50V) 1015 2333
Backplane Power (3.3V) 40 40
---------------------- ---- ---------
Total 1798 4846
I also noticed that an effected port flaps and seems to show connected 10MB????
Thanks in advance

Aside from what Reza has posted, your line card will not work because your PS is inadequate. I believe you need the 4200w or 6000w PS (Table 6 of the link below).

Hi,
What version of IOS XE are you using?
This card works with 3.2.0SG or later.

Hi Guys,
I am running Cisco IOS Software, IOS-XE Software, Catalyst 4500 L3 Switch Software (cat4500e-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 03.03.00.SG RELEASE SOFTWARE.
It would appear I indeed do require the 4200 PS, however why will it not power phones when it shows capacity available??

I can't answer you that. I don't have this line card.
Hmmm ... So if you connect your phones to other line cards (not the same model) which support PoE, then it works?

Yes, it is very strange....

Maybe the uPoE card won't "power up" the ports until the correct PS is inserted.

Also, the UPOE line card may consume more power than the old line card leaving less power for the IP Phones, that's why you need the 4200W or 6000W Power Supply

I am also having this problem, except I have the SUP8-E 15.1(1r)SG2 03.03.00.XO code. I am trying to get some phones (8961's) online... when the switch is fresh booted (or module freshly power cycled) ALL phones work for 30-45 mins, and then random ones drop offline. Ports show down/down and power inline is showing auto/off. If i reboot the module, they work again for 30-45 mins, again.
WAP 3702's are not effected by this, even on the same chassis, even on the same line card.
TAC just told me to try a new IOS... :/
SUP8-E only has 2 IOS available :/
