Hello,

The problem could be a incompatibility between the supervisor card used, the IOS version and its support for the GE module.

Hope the following chart with the minimum required supervisor/IOS helps.

Software support

With Supervisor Engine 2—12.1(19)E1

With Supervisor Engine 32—12.2(18)SXF

With Supervisor Engine 32 PISA—12.2(18)ZY

With Supervisor Engine 720—12.2(18)SXF

With Supervisor Engine 720 and WS-F6K-GE48-AF or WS-F6K48-AF PoE daughter cards—12.2(17d)SXB (WS-X6148-GE-TX only)

With Supervisor Engine 720-10GE—12.2(33)SXH

Catalyst OS:

WS-X6148-GE-TX—7.6(9)

WS-X6148A-GE-TX—8.4(1)

"show envir status module 4"

Francisco

Hi Jon,

thank you for your reply and guidance.

yes we are running VSS.

we installed the cards ot the two 6506-E  and we are facing the mentioned problem.

You cannot run this card in a VSS system. You need all WS-X67xx modules in a VSS system, see the VSS Q&A for details of supported modules -

VSS Q&A

Jon

Yes,

That module is not compatible with VSS. See my VSS hardware details to have an idea:

2 x C6506-E running IOS 12.2-33SXI

SUP720 10GE

WS-X6748-GE-TX module

2 x WS-CAC-3000W power supplies.

Regards.
