Xmit-Err and Discards values are equivalent

Hello all,

i have Xmit-Err and Discards values are equivalent, i read on this doc http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/switches/catalyst-6500-series-switches/12027-53.html about Xmit-Err and Discards values but i cant find out why thier values are always equivalent.

can someone help please.

An Xmit-Err is a subset or type of Output Discard.
