C40 Running Hot

Hello

I have a client with several C40 codecs. It seems like i always' have issues with the codec that is sitting inside of a closed cabinet in a conference room.  I understand the ambient temp is maxed at 95 but is there any log files that will show me environmental info history?

I have three other codecs that work great and are properly vented.  I am going in tomorrow with a thermal heat gun to see the actual temp because i cannot even touch the unit without getting burned.

Has anyone esle had this issue?

Hi Brandon, You can do SSH to the C40 with admin login and enter command " xstatus system "

You will see the below ouput of the current temperature of the unit

SystemUnit Hardware Temperature: "67.5"

Let me check if this info gets logged.

I checked the units and they are coming in at 65 to 75 and i am assuming this is Farenheight and not celius.  The outside of my boxes are reading 103 to 110 degees when we hit it whith a thermal meter.  You cannot even touch them.

I have one codec that is acting very wierd and will not allow me to access its settings via a browser and is also sending out garbled audio with no dropped packets.

I was thinking th eheat in these cabinets could be the cause.

Guys I am having the same problem with my systems  Here is what the C40 system is reading

Temperature:
69.0°C / 156.2°F

Also this is a SX20 I have sitting on a desk and here is the reading.  There is nothing around it but a tv.
Temperature:
52.5°C / 126.5°F

Wonder if these systems run normally this hot.

Agree with above...   In the later TC software you can see fan status and temp in the web interface.

Whenever we put a codec in a credneza or closet we always include a fan.  Not cheap but these Middle Atlantic fans are great, thermostatic operation, variable speed so its quite.

Yes, those temperatures are pretty normal.  It has been noted that the max temperature (where it'll do a thermal shutdown) is 80°C - so anything below that is fine.

Most of my C60s and SX20s can be seen to be running between 50°C and 70°C depending on their ventilation and usage at the time.  They've been running for over 3 years at these temperatures and never had an issue with one failing.

The temperatures have been discussed a few times before in these forums - here are a couple of examples:

What is fan speed on C40?

You may check it by executing “xsta //fan” API command.

== example ==

xsta //fan

*s SystemUnit Hardware Monitoring Fan 1 Status: "locked on 2746 rpm"

*s SystemUnit Hardware Monitoring Fan 2 Status: "locked on 2746 rpm"

*s SystemUnit Hardware Monitoring Fan 3 Status: "locked on 2746 rpm"

*s SystemUnit Hardware Monitoring Fan 4 Status: "locked on 2746 rpm"

** end

=============

Are all four fans running?
