Calls between CUCM 9 TC endpoints and external endpoints

Hi,

I'm testing calls from/to EX series endpoints regostered in CUCM 9.0 to/from C-series endpoints registered to VCS and Movi clients registered externally.

Following is my setup in a simple view:

CUCM 9.0  ------SIP Trunk---------VCS 7.1 --------- FW----------Expressway 7.1---------- Internet

       ^                                                  ^                                                                                    ^

       |                                                   |                                                                                     |

    EX90                                           C-20                                                                           External Movi client

    TC 5.2                                        TC5.1                                                                               v. 4.4

Following works correctly:

  Calls from C-20 to EX90

Call from   C-20 to external Movi clients

  Calls from EX90 to C20

Calls from Movi client to C-20

Having issues with the following:

- Call from external Movi client to EX90 loses Video and Audio after approximately 10-15 seconds. Call does not disconnect, tough, until I manually ends it.

SIP Call debug log attached (taken from EX90 while reproducing problem)

- Call from EX90 to Movi client connects fine and do not lose any audio/video but when hanging call from Movi client, the connection remain (or appears to remain) active in the EX90. If I hung the call from the EX90 the Movi client disconnects fine.

I have configured and double checked settings according to the VCS 7x - CUCM 8.x Deployment Guide. Have not found any related document specific to CUCM 9.0 (I guess is not out yet)

Any ideas or guidance on what the problem might be, are greatly appreciated

Thanks

Oscar

I had the exact same problem and it was caused by a misconfiguration on the VCS-E side. Check the deployment guide, page 59 and make sure that your VCS-E is configured per the documentation.

Hi George,

Thanks for the info and the link. Reading Appendix 4, as you pointed out, NATing does not appear to be my problem as I have my Expressway in front of the FW, with a Public address and no NATing being performed or necessary.

One thing I have not found is much documentation on how to tweak my deployment model and it's just mentioned as one of the options in deployment guides. If you know of any such documentation please share it with me.

I also think my problem might be FW related but as I don't do any NATing I put that item low in the list of possible culprits.  Keep in mind I have no issues making calls from/to endpoint registered to my VCS and external Movi clients

Thanks again

Oscar

The only deployment guide i used is the one give here. UCM 9 is pretty new so I am guessing it will be a little while when the guides come out especially since it supports URI dialing. I am anxiously waiting for the same.

When integrating this with 8.6 I found the above mentioned guide only half of the equation. I had to rely on the information here on the CUCM side to get this fully functional. Haven't got to CUCM 9.0 yet so let's keep the discussion going.
