Error Message on Telepresence 60 camera.

Hello,

I have begun the configuration of a cisco SX80 codec, with a telepresence 60 camera. after initially being able to see the camera image, this has since been lost. I can see the camera in the peripherals on the web interface GUI, however this is as a paired device, and a red banner at the top of this page gives a no camera connected message.

When moving the camera between ports on the codec the camera is picked up by the codec, as noted on the on screen pop ups.

Troubleshooting mode has an error for the camera which reads:

ERROR: IP Camera Status

FTT(s/n) reports CAMERA_MALFUNC_SENSOR.

How, if at all, can I both clear this error message and restore camera functionality?

Is this a new installation of camera for that specific SX80 codec? The camera normally upgrades its firmware automatically when first time connected to the codec. Make sure upgrade is successful on the camera.

Check also the camera control cable if connected properly on the codec (Ethernet port 2 or 3) and from the camera RJ45 port.

Also try to reboot the codec while camera is connected.

This is the same camera that was delivered with the SX80 codec (in the same box)

It has worked during our initial installation but we have lost video coming to the codec from the camera.

We have tried a new Ethernet cable from the camera to the codec, and a new HDMI lead from the camera to the codec, neither have solved the problem.

A factory reset has been performed on both the codec and the camera and we still have the same message.

 If you have other Precision 60 camera that is working fine you can connect to the codec to confirm whether codec or camera is the problem.

If your system is covered by a service contract, you can contact Cisco TAC and open a case regarding your issue.

You could try to do a software swap on the camera itself;

connect to the serial port (the disabled VISCA port) of the camera:

  • Use a USB to serial, a null modem and a serial cable with DB9 in one end and RJ45 in the other end (C-series camera control cable). PC – (usb/db9) – (null modem) – (db9-rj45) - Halley
  • Hold b during boot to break the boot, then quickly hit c to enter the HALLEY prompt
  • In the Halley prompt, select software can be performed to swap to the other image
  • BAUD RATE IS NOW 38400 (TC7.1). Previously it was 115200.

If you cannot connect to Halley make sure that you are using a crossed serial cable (null modem cable) and not a straight-through. Verify that your serial emulation software is running by connecting it to e.g a codec.

Software swap - Selectsw

With the Halley prompt you can try to do a software swap:

Press 'b' to enter u-boot prompt

Press 'c' to stop autoboot:  5

HALLEY>

HALLEY> selectsw

image2

@image1          [ACTIVE]

To swap to image2 enter selectsw image2

Do a boot afterwards to reboot halley

HALLEY> boot

If it still won't work; contact TAC and raise a RMA request.
