All,
I am trying to understand how "mls qos trust device cisco-phone: config will work when a Avaya phone is connected to that port. Will it still trust the DSCP or the DSCP value of the voice packets will be changed to 0
I am not saying we will implement something like this its just for knowledge purpose to understand how "trust device Cisco-phone" works with other vendor phones.

Hi if the switch does not detect a Cisco phone with that command in place ion the port its not going to trust it , if its untrusted cos will be set to 0 default
non Cisco you would use mls qos voip trust or auto qos voip trust

Hi,
As mentioned below, this feature uses CDP to detect cisco IP phones. If CDP is disabled or the endpoint don't support CDP, DSCP value will be remarked to zero by default which untrust state.
In case you want to trust DSCP for non-Cisco devices, you can enable LLDP and use network policies to configure the DSCP values used by the endpoints.
