MX300 G2 - Intelligent Proximity

Hi everyone,

We are awaiting delivery of some new MX300 G2 units.  Whilst taking a look at this new model I stumbled upon this keynote

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOWiXy50bEI

Does anyone have any release details around the IOS app required to enable intelligent proximity? I have searched the Apple app store and it doesn't appear to be available yet.

Thanks in advance.

Darren-

What disconnection option are you referring too? Thanks

Everyone that connects to the endpoint using proximiry will be able to disconnect the call, I think this is what Darren is referring to.

Guys, for discussions on Cisco Proximity we have now opened a new community for support/discussions/beta test feedback. Please go to this link: https://supportforums.cisco.com/community/12156681/cisco-proximity to continue the discussion on this app. The people that can do the changes are monitoring the proximity forum and not this one ;)

We also have an FAQ for the most common questions here: https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/12159326/frequently-asked-questions-cisco-proximity

when I tested with my C20 on TC7.0.2 with my iPad, there was a red disconnect option at the bottom of the iPad.  Admittedly, I didn't play with proximity much because I was frustrated after hearing the iPad had to be on the same network, so maybe this also appeard on the SX20, but I don't think it did.

Didn't they say this beta version would work with EX & C-series too?

According to the Cisco Proximity info in iTunes it gives a link, http://cisco.com/go/proximity, and it mentions the below.

Intelligent Proximity for Content Sharing is scheduled for release in April 2014 as a beta trial through an iOS app called Cisco Proximity. All of Cisco’s current TelePresence endpoints running software release TC 7.1 will be supported in the beta phase (C-Series, Profile, MX200, MX300, MX200 G2, MX300 G2, MX700, MX800, SX10, SX20 and SX80). Once fully released in late 2014, only Cisco's latest generation of room-based video endpoints using Touch 10 will be supported. A version of Cisco Proximity for Android-based mobile devices is planned for early 2015.

They need to include the C-series.  To me they are a big part of the current hardware in use in the enviroment that would utilize this feature.

Yeah, doesn't make sence that in the beta phase the list of endpoints are pretty much all TC software endpoints, then when fully released, the product list shrinks dramatically.  That is my take on that statement, I could be wrong, but reading that it looks like I'm right.

In the description in iTunes appstore it says SX-series is supported, also says all require TC7.1 - which is not out as yet.

No C-series? Seriously? :(

Have you noticed they updated the wording on the proximity page, and removed any mention of what works in the beta version, including C-Series.  They also made a note that C-Series will not be supported at all.

Yeah, took a look at the new forum;

Rather depressing  - was at least hoping C90 would be supported, here's hoping sanity will prevail...or we are at least given a very good reason as to why it won't be supported.
