Hello,
I would like to use a remote control with the EX90. i.e. TRC 4.
Is it possible and how would I do it?
I've read on some forums that some people were able to to it on TC3 by setting the SystemUnit Menutype to Full.
I'm on Software version TC4.
Before I upgrade it to TC5.1, has anyone been able to active the remote control.

Hi Truong,
TRC will not work with EX90 till date.
In general C series when you connect touch panel then in that case also you will not be able to use remote control.

Hi Truong,
Yes, you would be able to use the Remote Control on the Ex90. Please follow the steps below in order to activate :
Please keep in mind that by default this is disabled. Also, if you have the Touch Panel connected, the Remote Control will not work. Please disconnect the Touch Panel and you should be able to use the Remote as soon as the codec detects the Touch Panel disconnected.
I am running TC5.1.0 on my Ex90 and am able to access it. Please let me know if you face any issues.

I have managed to use my EX90 with the remote control using 5.1.3 software.
There is something that I have noticed however; when the "presentation" button is pressed the EX90 reports "natural presenter package is not installed". My EX90 is fully loaded with Multisite and PR and natural presenter package works when the touch panel is connected. Has anyone else found this issue?

Hi Ian,
You're correct. I was able to reproduce the issue on my Ex90. Looks like the Ex90 is not configured to use all the functionality using the remote control. You will need to use the Touch Panel for this.

I made the same test with the remote control and Presentation button didn't work. I just activated presentation through telnet. Not OK but it was the only way for me.

I do not have IR enabled on my EX90, nor do I have a TC5 remote control, so, could somebody check what kind of data you get when logging into a system as admin and do :
log ctx IRsensor debug 9
OK
log output on
OK
To turn debug output to screen off do :
log output off
log ctx IRsensor debug 0
And see what you get when you press some buttons, especially, the presentation button.

Danny,
This is what I get when doing what you asked:
1007.90 IRSensor IRKeyHandler::keyEvent IRId = 0x0, IRCode = 0x11
1007.90 IRSensor IRKeyHandler::sendKeyEvent key=0x1f down=1
1008.20 IRSensor Key-up after: 170 ms
1008.20 IRSensor IRKeyHandler::notifyNoKeyPress
1008.20 IRSensor IRKeyHandler::sendKeyEvent key=0x1f down=0
I have a feeling though that the remote is not the problem though
In my quick testing I found that the presentation button does not work, the MIC button, I cannot get selfview to work and even trying to enable presentation via the menu does not work. The EX90 does not like the remote at all Tested using TC5.1.5.
Thanks,
Justin

Hi,
Remote control with Ex-series is not a supported used-case. The remote control use case has never been tested by R&D. For Ex series, you have to use them with the touch controller.
You can also see that from TC4 Ex-series admin guide on-wards, there is no mentioned of usage of remote control in the guide and anything in relation to it.
regards.

Hello All,
Do you know if any progresses have been made by R&D for the remote ?
I am using the latest TC6.0.1 release on my EX90 and I am willing to give it a try but I do not want to mess things up !

Guillaume

Remote control on EX90 is unsupported as stated by Teck above.

Hello,
latest update from marketing on the use of remote control on EX-Series : this is now a supported feature starting from TC6.2.1 software. Below is snippet from technical forum explaining the feature support.
For those customers who must use an EX90 or EX60 without a touch panel, you can now use the remote control with TC6.2.1 software.
To enable the use of remote control against EX series, please follow the steps:
1. Log in to the codec with ssh as admin@ipaddress
2. Disconnect the Touch device from the EX
3. xCommand SystemUnit FactoryReset Confirm: Yes TrailingAction:Restart
4. xConfiguration Experimental SystemUnit MenuType: Full
5. xConfiguration SystemUnit IrSensor: On
6. The remote control is enabled after 60 seconds
