Root Account On the VCS Not Working

Hi,

We did some upgrade on the VCS from X7.2 to X7.2.2 and after sucessful upgrade we cannot access already the root account on the VCS.

We did backup on the configuration and upload it after the upgrade.

I'm trying to access via SSH the VCS and login as root to reset the root password but i cannot login as root on the VCS anymore.

I did follow the guide on how to reset root password:

root_password_reset.jpg

Is there other way on how to reset the root password other than doing a factory reset?

Thank you.

Best regards,

Acevirgil

Hi,

Check out page 298 of the administrators guide -

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/telepresence/infrastructure/vcs/admin_guide/Cisco_VCS_Administrator_Guide_X7-2.pdf - for the Resetting Forgotten Passwords section - this should work, you need physical access to the box though.

Thanks,

Guy

Hi Guy Badman,

Thank you for the inputs. I should go on site to pysically have an access on the VCS via console to do it. I'll let you know how it goes...

Thank you very much.

Best regards,
