SIp URI Question

Hello All,

We have a bunch of Standalone SX-20's, C40's/20 and EX90's. One of our clients wants to dial one of our SX20 device only thru SIP URI. We have no VCS or CUCM. How do we achieve this ? Can we NAT this SX-20 and put a SIP URI on the SX-20 ? Will this work. ?

Thanks

V

Your systems can dial out using URI dialling without being registered to a SIP registrar such as a CUCM or a SIP registrar/H.323 Gatekeeper such as a VCS, however, they cannot be called using URI address format without being registered to a call control device and having the relevant SRV records in place.

So;

  • SIP or H.323 URI from you: yes, but only if the system being called is registered to a SIP registrar or a H.323 Gatekeeper.
  • SIP or H.323 URI to you: no (your systems can only be called using their public IP addresses).

Solution? Either deploy VCS and/or CUCM, or, alternatively, use a third party provider like BlueJeans, Ubeity etc when needed.
