SQL Server for TMS

Hello,

We are going to install TMS v15 and we will use an SQL external. What communication ports, protocols, and services that are required for the communication between the TMS and SQL server?

Thanks,

Lan

Hi,

As per TMS installation guide using external SQL server, for network requirement the latency between the Cisco TMS server and the SQL server must not exceed 20 ms.

For the ports used by TMS Refer to this guide under page 13.

http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/telepresence/infrastructure/tms/install_guide/Cisco-TMS-install-guide-14-6.pdf

For SQL connections, the TCP port used by a default SQL server instance is configurable, and the port used by a named SQL server instance is dynamic, changing whenever the service restarts.

For instructions on making your SQL server listen to a particular port:

As you're going with TMS 15, check out the TMS 15 Installation and Upgrade Guide and the TMS 15 Administrator Guide.  The requirements for Windows and SQL versions for TMS 15 are slightly different to those linked by Ace for TMS 14.6, although the actual SQL communication ports should be the same.

As a general rule, TMS and the SQL server should both be on the same network, so you shouldn't need to worry too much about ports through firewalls, etc.
