SX/DX migration to from TC to CE, Cisco CUCM.

I have reviewed the 8.3 release notes, but I am unclear if you can migrate one unit at a time to CE?  Our endpoints are all registered to CUCM 10.5.2, with no device pack installed.  If the new device pack is installed will it attempt break any of the current registered endpoints?  I understand that the device pack will create a new Telepresence DX device, is the SX similar?
