SX20 CE Software - Remote Control

Hello Guys ! 

Our customer has about 20 SX20 with TRC5 remote control. They intend to update their SX20 from TC to CE software, however TRC5 is not supported on CE version.
Do you know if Cisco replace (RMA) the remote control TRC5 to TRC6 even if this replacement is only to keep customer's telepresence environment updated?

Hello Marcos,

Under CE Release Notes (page 8) we may see the following:

Cisco TelePresence SX20 Quick Set that utilizes either a Touch 8 or TRC5 remote control should not be upgraded to Collaboration Endpoint SW. Touch 10 or TRC6 remote control is required to operate endpoints using Collaboration Endpoint SW.

If you submit an RMA for a TRC5 remote, you won't get a TRC6 remote as a replacement, as RMAs are like-for-like replacements. You'll need to purchase new TRC6 remotes if you intend to upgrade from TC to CE software, part number for TRC6 remote is CST-RMT-TRC6=.

Compared to the price of the TRC5 remotes, the new TRC6 remotes are considerably cheaper.  We had to purchase 63 of them to upgrade some of our older units.  Buying them in bulk also got us a significant discount through our Cisco Partner.
