Hi
Our Tandberg MXP1700 is not behind a firewall, and we keep getting warnings from our ISP that this unit is used in snmp atacks.
is there any way I can prevent this without putting it behind a firewall? Can I disable snmp?
Thank you in advance for any answers!

Yes, you can disable SNMP as that is only used for management purposes (TMS), I would still seriously consider putting the unit behind a firewall though.
At the very minimum, SNMP should be read-only, the community should be set to something other than "public" and strict ip password should be turned on.

Thanks for your reply Jens.
My followup question is, how can I disable snmp? I have looked everywhere in the menus, and i cant find how to disable it.
I have blanked everything in the snmp-menu, but that did not help.

You should have an option at the top of the SNMP settings page in the web gui with "Mode" which can be set to "On", "Off" or "Read-only". Or you can telnet into the unit and use the command: xConfiguration SNMP Mode: Off
