Hello,

I am trying to upgrade the firmware on the Cisco SX20. I know the process how to do from the web interface. But I am trying to download the new firmware available on the cisco website, I am trying to download it from here https://software.cisco.com/download/home/284091229/type/280886992/release/7.0.1-SX20-MXG2 and the webpage does not load at all. It throws a bad gateway request error.

I don't know where else to download the new firmware from, please help.

7.0.1-sx20-MXG2 is a differed version. You cannot download it from the portal.

You can download the files from below Link.

https://software.cisco.com/download/home/284091229/type/280886992/release/7.0.1-SX20-MXG2?releaseIndicator=DEFERRED

Hi Nithin,

The firmware link you provided is released way back in 2014, I am trying to upgrade the endpoint to a newer version. Like https://software.cisco.com/download/home/284091229/type/280886992/release/CE9.15.3.22 9.15.3.22

However, the link finally worked for me and I saw the list of available files in there. I went and downloaded the "Collaboration Endpoint Software for SX20 and MXG2 Series", I tried upgrading the endpoint from its web GUI, I uploaded the file, etc., it went through the whole process and gave a couple of restarts, I saw the newer version number and then all of a sudden it started giving couple of reboots again and it is back to the original version that is ce 9.3.2, I am confused why wouldn't it stay at 9.15.3.22. Is it because we don't have an active license?

Sorry I copied a wrong link.. Actually from the same page you can access all other Firmware files.

Read the release guides, what I remember is step upgrade is required when upgrading to the latest version.
it’s clearly mentioned on the release notes.

Looks like the software.cisco.com is down again. Will wait for it come back up and try again.

I tried to do go through the document, It looks like no step upgrade is required when going from ce 9.3.2 to ce 9.15.3.22, Can you please advise on this?

The step upgrade is only needed on the Room Series hardware where the newer software files are larger than 1Gb.

For the SX20, this isn't the case.

You just need to make sure you have the right file (s52010ce9_15_3_22.pkg) and that the download isn't corrupted (check the MD5 checksum of the file and make sure it matches).

Hi @Wayne DeNardi ,

Thank you for the reply. This might be the dumbest question but can you guide me on how to check the MD5 checksum?

Md5 value will be mentioned on the firmware download page.

From a windows machine you can check the Md5 value following the below steps.

  1. Open Command Prompt.
  2. Open your downloads folder by typing cd Downloads. ...
  3. Type certutil -hashfile followed by the file name and then MD5.
  4. Check that the value returned matches the value the MD5 file you downloaded

Ok, Same thing happened again. I checked the MD5 to make sure the file is not corrupted and followed the procedure to upgrade the device. Still it did the same thing like it gave a couple of reboots, ran through the whole process and is still sitting at ce9.3.2 software version.

But I did see some errors in the diagnostics, please see the attachments.
