Video Conferencing using Jabber for Mac

Greetings,

I would like to enable video conferencing using Jabber for Mac for two offices in different cities. Number of users would be <50, no networking or conferencing equipment is present other than the internet link provided by ISP.

What would be the list of all hardware, software and licensing products required for a solution that would enable the required end to end video conferencing?

Take a look at Ubiety, it's based on Acano, which means you'll be able to connect into a conference using anything you want.

Jabber clients needs a Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) to provide SIP registrations, call control, and other services like IM and Presence for instant messaging and to provide presence services.

Also if you require multisite calls and conferences that have huge number of participants you need Telepresence Servers or MCUs as call bridges to host the conferences.

You would also need Expressways (Core +Edge) to enable secure end to end firewall traversal calls through Internet.

You may refer to this design guide:

http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/solutions/PA/midmarket/video.pdf

I would also suggest to get in touch with Cisco AM/SE representative in helping you build the solution and proper design.

to be honest mate, with an organisation your size, I would use a cloud based solution, webex has cloud based offererings, same as lifesize.com

check these out before you start spending money on hardware and software that is hardly being used.

cheers.

PS. please remember that video and voice over an internet connection, there is never any guarantee for the qualiy of that video and voice

Thanks Jens, and the rest. I'll take a look, these all seem like good suggestions and alternatives.
