Video showing on only one monitor instead of all 3 monitors.

Our client had a meeting recently and there were 3 Telepresence end points along with MCU Bridge. He mentioned that the Video showed on only one monitor instead of all 3 monitors for one of the TP end point. We conducted a test meeting with MCU bridge and two TP end points, we found that Video showed on only one monitor. When we conducted a test meeting with TPS bridge and two TP end points, video showed on all 3 monitors.

Do we have any limitation with MCU Bridge ?

The reason is TS supports TIP protocol which helps in distributing the multi party videos for multiple screen telepresence units (eg. CTS).

Advantages of TelePresence Server vs MCU:

  1. TelePresence Server supports the TIP protocol - so immersive TelePresence works nicely – if you have the multi-screen endpoints such as the CTS Series
  2. TelePresence Server allows better utilisation of the HD/SD port capabilities (when paired with a Conductor)
  3. TelePresence Server, again, with a Conductor, allows custom conference aliases (nice names, rather than conference numbers).

You can refer to https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/solutions/telepresence/tip.html

While there is a migration path and a “free” upgrade available from the software on a 8510 MCU to make it an 8710 TPS, there are licencing implications – the licences are not a 1:1 transfer.  It’s the little things like this that are often overlooked when considering an upgrade.

Hope this helps.

What (exactly) do you have? You mention Telepresence endpoints and and MCU bridge, but what endpoints and what bridge? Telepresence Server/Conductor? 8510? CMS? And what endpoints - CTS? IX5000, MX series?

A standard MCU only sends one live video stream, and another stream for content. A Telepresence Server or CMS supports TIP and can send up to three live video streams, but only to a system that supports that (like CTS, IX5000).

If you can provide more details on your environment I can tell you what you can/can't do.
