Hi Shaihan,

Lets assume you need Cisco infrastructure. Minimum requirements you need are

  1. call control to register WebEx room kit, if on-premises you need CUCM or Expressway C. If over cloud services, you need Cisco WebEx cloud
  2. Expressway E for firewall traversal and connectivity to other SIP/H323 providers Zoom, Polycom, MSFT Teams etc.
  3. For MSFT teams meetings, you have 2 options,
    1. CVI integration feature at Cisco WebEx cloud. it will act as a gateway between Cisco & MSFT
    2. To join directly via WebRTC from your WebEx room kit, but this option requires OBTP meeting feature with Room mailbox feature.

There are so many other players in the picture which needs to be considered such as integrations, interworking, licenses, certificates, permissions, DNS/SIP domain, DNS records, WebEx domain verification, etc. etc.

Hope this helps,

The other day we by chance noticed that there is an option to OBTP when joining a Teams meeting. It works with proximity to start the MS Teams meeting from the Webex application if the video endpoint is set to use cloud proximity. For the OP this would be so as the devices are cloud registered. For anyone who uses on-premises registration this option is available to set from Control Hub if the devices are made cloud aware with Edge for devices.

Very interesting. I guess you need to integrate the Webex app with your O365 calendar for this?
Would love to see this documented by Cisco somewhere?

Yes we do have Hybrid Calender setup for our users with the cloud connector option. So very likely this would be how the Webex client knows about the meeting even if it's a MS Teams meeting. I have not found any documentation on this and when I asked our account team at Cisco they where not sure if this was GA yet. Our tests so far on all the release channels, stable, preview and beta, this has worked on all.

Could you please explain a little more about your infrastructure ?

Is it just a Webex Room kit you have ?

Room End points are Room kit mini, Room kit pro, Room kit plus and Webex teams. All registered on Webex cloud.

For MT Webrtc  meetings using OBTP:-

Hybrid calendar must  be enabled for this option to work.

Enable MT Webrtc calling from Control Hub.

  •  control hub >>device>> setting enable Microsoft Teams WebRTC Calling.
  • From CS kit  web page Configuration > WebEngine > Choose On.

CVI enabled MT  meetings :-

CVI enabled MT meeting will contain informations as mentioned below.

invitacion-MS-Teams-cvi.jpg

Follow the instructions at the bottom of invite – either by dialing in the SIP video address that includes the VTC conference ID, or by entering the shorter SIP video address. After dialing in the shorter SIP video address, you’ll be able to enter the VTC conference ID on your device and join the meeting.

Zoom and Polycom meeting:-

If you get SIP URI information for Zoom and Polycom meetings, Dial the URI from your CS kit.

Since you are using Cisco WebEx cloud,

  1. For CVI integration, you need to enable hybrid services of MSFT Teams in WebEx Control Hub(Additional License is required). Remember, It is a per device license A-MST-WX-CVI-ROOMS.
  2. CVI integration is only for the domains you have the control on. If the other party /organization doesn't have CVI enable, you cannot join MSFT Teams meeting via this option, doesn't matter if you have it on your WebEx side or not.
  3. However, join via WebRTC option doesn't require any license or feature enablement on either side i.e. caller or the called party apart from OBTP feature of Hybrid calendar services. Meeting invite must be sent via a scheduling infrastructure MSFT Exchange or O365 etc.
