It's likely the Proximity Ultrasound - if you have an external audio system connected to your device, these can often make the ticking sound worse. You should either use some external DSP to strip out the ultrasound from your external speakers, or, if you don't need to use it, disable the proximity feature and it'll get rid of the noise.
