CMS or use cloud Webex or other third party competitors . Cloud might be a simpler strategy get a service set up expressway and SFB and SX can join the cloud service.

Thanks

first of all how would the CMS be used to facilitate calls to skype users? as far as I know CMS is just a server to host meetings? how would it be used to call skype users? does sx20 register on it like a phone register on a cucm?

second of all what is the easiest demo to implement with a sx20 to call skype users? what is the cloud solution? what is the SFB stand for ?

Cisco strategy assuming on premise architecture is using cms as the bridging service between Cisco and MS whether it be P2P or Multi point calls. Cisco provides a license SMP that will be decremented at 1/6 for gateway ie P2P calls which means one license is allowing 6 P2P calls.

Webex is cloud resource and while it doesn’t have all the whiz bang features of cms like dual homing, drag and drop TP endpoints when on a Skype client, support for RT Audio RT Video (which to be honest is only used by very old Skype clients or Skype on Mac).

Suggest you review this guide

SFB is short for Skype for Business

sx20 registers to CCM or expressway not CMS

easiest is Webex since it’s cloud based

Keep in mind that all of the posts you have found when they are talking about "Skype" are actually referring to "Skype for Business".  The standard consumer "Skype" product is officially unsupported by Microsoft talking to anything other than itself.  While it may work via the SfB infrastucture, it has broken in the past for long periods of time, and should not be relied on as a guaranteed way to talk to Skype Consumer.
