I have just had a Polycom VSX 5000 dropped on my desk and told to configure it. I have no clue as to what I am doing in regards to video and can't seem to find any information on what to do.
If anybody can point me in the right direction that would be helpful.
I have a CallManager 4.1 cluster, 3745 Gateways with ISDN in/out. The Polycom only has a network interface.
For now If I can even just make the thing call out and setup a video call based on the bandwidth settings in it that would be all I need. It does not need to communicate witin the actuall network.

Hi Kenfidler,
You can add VSX5000 just as a normal IP Phone. But 2 things to take care of:
1. Use "Add device" -> Device Type = "Phone", Phone Type = "H.323 Client", then assign a DN for the polycom.
2. Be carefull on the name of the device. It is the IP Address of the Polycom. Otherwise, CM won't notify where the Polycom is.

Thanks.
I did that but the call manager can still not see it. Do you know of a location of any good documentation in regards to setting up the gatekeeper etc.
I also need it to connect to ISDN trunks connected to a 3745. Any hints as to what I need exactly.

Correction.
It is unknown in the phone field of the callmanager but I can call it from an IP phone

At this stage IOS does not support the H26X video over ISDN through router voice ports. There will be a new feature soon that will allow a IP based video unit to call out through the router ISDN voice ports and make video calls using a data bearer capability, but this will not help you at the moment.
Closest thing we can do is use TDM switching to intergrate the ISDN ports on the video unit to an external ISDN interface, this can then be shared for the voice calls (directed to the DSP's) and the video calls (directed to the other isdn ports). Refer here for details -

When will this functionality be available?
Can I use a VIC2-2BRI to allow me to make outbound calls with a polycom unit using ISDN BRI?
How about a WIC-1B-U-V2?
