Skype calls via SX80

Currently have a Cisco sx80 which is able to make calls (by entering an IP) and receive calls.

Also, have a Lync server setup which works internally & externally.

What needs to be done, so that I can carry out a Lync/Skype call (either incoming or outgoing) that can be displayed on the SX80 screens using its cameras and microphones?

Thanks

I believe you'll need a gateway (VCS?) to/from the Lync server for a Lync call and a Skype gateway as well for a Skype call.  Is your SX80 using SIP or H.323?

At present it's using h.323

Would anyone be able to provide some documentation on how the setup should be performed? So as to ensure everything is carried out correctly please.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Here is an interesting discussion: http://blog.schertz.name/2015/01/video-interoperability-in-skype-for-business/

Thank you for your help.

Will check all the info out and let you know if I encounter any issues that you may be able to help with.

Thanks - will check out those pdfs.

Have you ever set up such a scenario? Any tips?

We have a VCS/Expressway deployed as a Lync Gateway, and are currently deploying CMS.  Depending on your current video infrastructure and your needs, it would determine which direction you go, the VCS/Expressway route has its disadvantages, while CMS is the better choice.

The Cisco Live presentation BRKCOL-2611 - Cisco Interoperability with Microsoft - Part 2, Video Interoperability (2016 Las Vegas) is also a good reference.

I have an issue since all gateways all refer to Lync.

I would like to receive calls from Skype (externally) on a Cisco SX80 and vice versa.

Any help please?

Is this Skype for Business or consumer Skype?

Lync and Skype for Business is one and the same.  If you're referring to consumer Skype, those calls must be federated through Lync/Skype for Business.

And a big warning - any of the interaction with Skype Consumer, even through the SfB federation becomes an unsupported scenario, even from the Microsoft perspective.  We logged a Microsoft Premier Support job for some of the issues we were encountering (it was working nicely with earlier versions of Skype Consumer, but broke with some of the more recent version) and Microsoft came back and told us that any interaction with a third party/non-Microsoft product is officially unsupported..

Would someone be able to guide me on how to install and setup the Lync gateway?

Lync servers and SX80 are in place.

What changes need to be done to the SX80?

Thanks

For starting setup the Lync gateway you need buy additional hardware.

For example, CMS (cisco meeting server) or Cisco Expressway.

Without  these nothing to do in configuration SX80.

See previous message with pdf for choose decision.

Although it is officially unsupported. but i got it working.

here are the step.

1. Enable public federation of Public Skype to your CMS EDGE. (CMS must be doing direct federation).

you can enable public federation via on-prem Lync/SFB.

2. route your Lync domain @lyncdomain.com to CMS Spaces. from CMS route it as SIP to VCS.

you need to play with "call forward" in CMS.

3. route @hotmail.com, @skypeids.net, @outlook.com, @msn.com from VCS to CMS and then from CMS to Lync.

this way you can achieve bi directional consumer Skype to Cisco endpoint/Jabber calls.

one thing i noticed during testing. call initiated from consumer Skype must be first started as audio and after you hear CMS IVR prompt enable your camera to convert it to video call.

call directly initiated as video will fail.

I have TMS 15.5, CMS 2.2 & SFB 2015. I want to be able to schedule a Skype call from Outlook and include my endpoints using OBTP but when I see the call start in TMS it's trying to connect to "external hosted conference" and never even tries the CMS bridge. I can create a normal meeting in Outlook and include the endpoints and TMS uses the CMS bridge as it should. What am I missing here?
