2911 ISM and CUE: Do I need to (re-)install CUE for GUI access?

To all the experts out there, I am volunteering with a IPT (Voice) install for my Church.  They have a 2911ISR router, which I am trying to setup / configure for a small office configuration.

The question is as stated:  Do I need to (re-)install CUE to get the GUI (web UI) to work?  It shipped with CUE 8.6.6 on the ISM-SRE-300-K9 module.  But I'm not sure if it is because the GUI isn't there or if I have configured the interfaces and route incorrectly.

Here is the software list on the ISM:

Can you confirm the GUI files are there, or are they missing; in which case I need to (re-)install CUE?

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.  It is greatly appreciated.

Did you put an IP on the ISM on the 2911 config?  Can you ping that IP?  It should ship with a fully functional 8.6.6, but you have to IP it.

Can you post the 2911 config or the output for:

show run interface ism0/0

show run interface ism0/1

edit: also from the 2911 cli

service-module iSM 0/0 status

Hi Kevin.  Yes, I gave the ISM an IP; 10.0.150.2.  The Voice Vlan is planned to be 150.  Yes, I can ping the IP from the router (10.0.150.1).  Here are the 'show run interface' commands I have.

maccrouter1#sh run in ism0/0
Building configuration...

Current configuration : 228 bytes
!
interface ISM0/0
 description Unity-Express-Module
 ip unnumbered GigabitEthernet0/1.150
 service-module ip address 10.0.150.2 255.255.255.0
 !Application: CUE Running on ISM
 service-module ip default-gateway 10.0.150.1
end

ISM0/1 is configured as:

interface ISM0/1
description Internal switch interface connected to Internal Service Module
 no ip address

The ISM status:

maccrouter1#service-module ism 0/0 status

Service Module is Cisco ISM0/0
Service Module supports session via TTY line 67
Service Module is in Steady state
Service Module heartbeat-reset is enabled
Getting status from the Service Module, please wait..
Cisco Unity Express 8.6.6
CUE Running on ISM

Module resource information:
  CPU Frequency: 1064 MHz
  Memory Size: 501 MB
  Disk 0 Size: 4110 MB

No install/uninstall in progress

No localstore

If this is correct, and as you state CUE 8.6.6 should be fully functional, then it seems like the issue is related to routing or access-lists.

The bottom line is I can not get the Web interface to display on my laptop from either a switch port for Vlan 4 (management) or Vlan 150 (voice).  I can get to the 10.0.150.1 IP from either, but I can't ping or get a Web browser to connect to 10.0.150.2 (ISM module).

Your help is appreciated.

Regards, Jim.

Add a route on the router to the cue Ip route 10.0.150.2 255.255.255.255 ism0/0

Hi Kevin.  I do have that in place.

maccrouter1#sh ip route
Codes: L - local, C - connected, S - static, R - RIP, M - mobile, B - BGP
D - EIGRP, EX - EIGRP external, O - OSPF, IA - OSPF inter area
       N1 - OSPF NSSA external type 1, N2 - OSPF NSSA external type 2
       E1 - OSPF external type 1, E2 - OSPF external type 2
       i - IS-IS, su - IS-IS summary, L1 - IS-IS level-1, L2 - IS-IS level-2
       ia - IS-IS inter area, * - candidate default, U - per-user static route
       o - ODR, P - periodic downloaded static route, H - NHRP, l - LISP
       + - replicated route, % - next hop override

Gateway of last resort is 192.168.1.1 to network 0.0.0.0

S*    0.0.0.0/0 [1/0] via 192.168.1.1, GigabitEthernet0/0

192.168.1.0/24 is variably subnetted, 2 subnets, 2 masks
C        192.168.1.0/24 is directly connected, GigabitEthernet0/0
L        192.168.1.9/32 is directly connected, GigabitEthernet0/0

Could the router side interface be the problem?  Here is how it is configured:

!
interface GigabitEthernet0/1.150
 description $FW_INSIDE$
 encapsulation dot1Q 150
 ip address 10.0.150.1 255.255.255.0
 ip nat inside
 ip virtual-reassembly in
 zone-member security in-zone
 shutdown
!

I should be working on the router in the morning, so unless something obvious is indicated in the above config listing, I'll post a new 'show run' as soon as I can.

Thanks, Jim.

Shutdown?

Hi Kevin.  Thank you for your help and patience.  You know what they say about another pair of eyes, or having someone else to talk to.

I have been able to successfully reach CUE on the 150 Vlan (10.0.150.2) after removing the 'shutdown' (no shut) and plugging the laptop into a switch port configured for the 150 Vlan.  I was then able to do an admin login, configure for CME and run the init wizard.

Now, I will move on to 8945 phone firmware files, along with CME/CUE configuration of phones/extensions, etc.

Have a Great day!  smiley

You're welcome and I know the feeling well.  Good luck with your rollout!
