Folks

We have upgraded our 4331 from version  16.9.5 to 17.9.4a

Everything is working - however we are running a CUE application and now that module wont activate.

% Error: Virtual service cue is not activated

XXXX-4331-VoIP(config-virt-serv)#activate
% Feature License request fails

This was purchased will all the required licensing - so im a little confused.

What feature request is required? How do I enable it ?

Any help appreciated

James

Thanks for taking an interest, and taking the time to investigate.

It turns out this is a bug.. or compatiablty issue.

Basically the CUE Application needs to be upgraded to 10.2.1 or above to activate with IOS version 17.

So if your on 10.2.0 or below - you can only use IOS version 16 on the router

If you migrate to 10.2.1 or 10.2.2 - you can use IOS version 17 on the router.

Some people might be reluctant to do this as cisco no longer allow new mailbox licensing on 10.2.2 - so if you upgrade you cant even buy the licenses, if your lucky enough to own the licenses already, they will be continued to be supported... for now, but you'll have this nagging doubt - will cisco turn it off ? The beauty of the glorious smart licensing.

If you are using the CUE application - you really need to get off it - look at alternate products

Thanks again - great to have it sorted

Hi,

From 16.10 IOS  release, smart license is used by default so you need to check if your Router can communicate with CSSM (Cisco Smart Software Manager) on cloud.

The UC_VCUE should be the license PID.

Please let me know

Are you sure ??

I can see the license usage - it doesn't say im not in compliance

And I can not find any option to enable - UC_VCUE

How do we enable it ? We have an EA Agreement with the 'fill your boots' type deal.

Is it ok to use the Application CUE on IOS version 17 ?

Anyone using it ok?
