We have an OU in an AD forest and are unable to get the powers that be to add the Unity schema updates at the forest level. Does Unity support running the Active Directory Application Mode service on a server in our OU with the additional Unity specific attributes needed for Unity to function in AD?
Thanks,
Jesse

Hi -
I have an implementation document that I can send you that "might" help your forest/schema administrators understand the Unity specific attributes and know these are Microsoft approved. Also, if you have a test lab that mirrors, at least in part, your root forest, domain(s) and OU infrastructure, the updates can be applied in a safe environment. Unity is not the only application that updates schema, you have Exchange, SMS, Fax applications, etc. If you think this would be of value to you, please email me at kavang@saccounty.net.
Sincerely,
Ginger

Ginger,
Thank you for your reply. The powers that be in this case is the US Army and although they have been provided with plenty of documentation and details on the updates its hard to say when, or even if, that ball of red tape will ever get rolling. Im trying to look for another option and Active Directory Application Mode seems to be a way for me to have application specific directory attributes on a server in my OU without waiting on them; I just dont know if its an option with Unity?
Thanks,
Jesse
