Hi All,
I have been trying to get CER to backup to a vsftp Linux server and have had no luck. Callmanager 6.1 logs in and back up fine be CER alsways fails at login. Contacting TAC they told me to use freeftpd, which works, but I want the sftp to run on a Linux server I am already backing up instead of building a new windows box and paying for another backup license to work with Cisco inability to do what every other secure ftp client can do, that is use vsftp.
Has anyone gotten this to work? If so how? If not did you use a different Linux software?
Thanks

Try a simple SFTP like http://www.coreftp.com/server/ (download the MINI to a windows box)
as a test, see if it backs up to this box.

I notice that is a windows based program. I verified that it does work with other Sftp server, like freeftp. I want to get one that will work on Linux so I can back it up to tape from a Linux server that already is being backed up.
Any Linux based sftp out there that will work with CER?
Thanks

Ok we managed this, although the link is rather old, it was almost impossible to find the information. So after some testing we got it.
First, go to https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-configure-vsftpd-to-use-ssl-tls-on-an-ubuntu-vps and set up vsftp with ssl. Try your setup by connecting from another PC with sftp (linux) or filezilla (windows/linux) or another sftp client. It should work.
Then configure the backup in http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/voice-unified-communications/unified-communications-manager-callmanager/110309-callmanager-backup.html#backup1
Server name: IP number (do not use a hostname or name to be resolved, or you get a login error, this was our main problem)
Path: ./ (or depending on your vsftp setup)
Username (depends on what you created on the linux system)
Password (depends on what you created on the linux system)
Now SAVE and it should work.
