Hi,
1- i have two sites connected via wan which use a call manager express on each site configured individually (decentralized).
Can i deploy a redundancy if one of the cme router fail down to support the local site or some ip phones (if yes , how?) ...?
if wan fail calls between sites will move via the pstn.........
2- Regarding the above situation if i want to move to a centralized management using the CUCM...
what will happen to the ip phones licenses in both sites that already i pay for...........?
As there are three licenses- one for the router , one for the ip phones , and the last one for the interaction between the ip phones and the cme.
Which will i can reuse and which i will lose(money paid)?

I have seen CCME redundancy being deployed using HSRP. So if they are separated over the WAN that could be an issue. Keep in CUE redundancy would be manual AFAIK
If you move to CUCM,you will convert the existing CME users using 3x3 to CUCM UCL. CUE licenses cannot be ported and have to be repurchased as Uconn
SRST and CME on the router is interchangeable so nothing ost there. The remaining two will be covered using 3x3

Redundancy -
- You can use another router at the local site, for redundancy *without* HSRP. See this -
- For PSTN fallback, you can either have a secondary T1/FXS attached to the second router. Or request your provider to give you a split T1. Or split a FXO/FXS line your self - in this case, configure the answer timeout to a higher number on the second router.
- through the preference command on the dial-peer, you can control which dial-peer gets priority and which is the fallback path.
CM migration -
- You will reuse everything. The IP Phone licenses migrate to CM free. The UC Tech Package license stays since you will use the PSTN. The CME seat licenses will be reused for SRST.

Actually it isn't free. That is a mistake in the CCME OG. Here are the threads. Since CCME is 200 per phone license and UCL is 210, there is a difference. Hence i have been informed that you have to cover the difference using 3x3

Did you find anything out on this? I noticed in the latest OG there is still reference to it being free of charge for migrations and yet on the forums they want us to use 3x3. So can you clarify which method is right?

Is this still the case if they are on CUCM 7.1.5, which doesn't require UCLs yet? Just DLUs?

No, CUCM 7.1.5 is also UCL. Any release prior to 7.1.5 is DLU

Hi Srini,
I have consulted the CUCM ordering guide but it does not show so obvious that 3 x 3 promotion is applicable for customers migrating from CME. This guide documents migration paths from earlier versions of CUCM but not CME.
Can you advise any document that talks about the same promo for CME -> CUCM migration?
